Round and Round We Go

There's a common cliche out there that equates life to a ride on a roller coaster. The ups, downs, twists and turns that all happen when you least expect them. Some people love the ride while others grip on for dear life. While, yes, it is a cliche that is rather worn thin, I will say that it is rather accurate. And, with that, I divulge three bits of big news.

The first, and most imminent was that my wallet was stolen this week. I dozed off on the bus I was riding and my pants have shallow pockets. I got off the bus and went to a coffee stand (more about that in a minute) that I frequent. When I got there, I noticed that my wallet was gone. The barista (yeah, more on her later) not only let me use her cell, but made me a free beverage. I was able to report my wallet missing to the Metro service and canceled my debit card before it could get used. After that, I retraced my steps and had zero luck.

The next morning I checked the balance of my ORCA card (it's basically a card that you can load money on for riding the bus, train, and ferry) and saw that it had been used later that night. Confirmation that my wallet was stolen. Which means now I'm at the mercy of my friends and family for getting anywhere and I basically have to rebuild my identity once more. People suck.

The second bit of news is actually good news. As of a couple weeks ago, I have a new job. I'm now a sales executive selling television commercials to local businesses. We are also a local, small business, so we can easily relate to our potential clients. The downside is that it is 100% commission and I have yet to make a sale. This, I'm not going to lie, is my primary cause of all the stress I'm under. I know, deep down, that it's only a matter of time before I land my first sale, but I'm going to continue to feel completely unsure about all this until it happens.

The third bit of news is actually something that's been ongoing for a while now. There's a coffee stand that I have been frequenting for months now. While the beverages are quite tasty, the reason I have been going there is because of one of the baristas who works there. We have developed a rather close bond, to the point where she kept in contact with me when she was in Europe and we have had some very serious conversations. She was the one who helped me the other day, although, I know she would have done that for anyone. She's a genuinely good person with a kind heart. She's also a massive goofball who not only knows how to make me smile (which she does quite well), but make me laugh, as well.

I can say with full honesty that we care for each other fully. And, despite the fact that I'm pretty dense when it comes to picking up signals, I know there's a strong mutual infatuation with each other. The snag to this is that she has a boyfriend and I have a strict policy that I don't cheat and I don't poach. I fully respect that she has a boyfriend and I will not make any attempts to date her until I know for certain she is fully single. There is also the possibility of her work not allowing her to date customers, but there's many ways around that. That part I'm not worried about, at all.

The fourth and final bit of news is that I've begun writing again. I began a short story for my friend Rachel (who's back in Texas) and I'm having a blast writing it. I'm not sure where it's going, but it's been a great adventure so far.

Anywho, my dear readers, that about sums up all the big stuff that is happening right now. I will keep you updated on what I talked about in this post. Until then, I hope all is well with you.
